SP to hold public budget hearings; releases proposed budget

The Town of Southern Pines announced it had a discharge of untreated wastewater on Monday, Dec. 20 of an estimated 10,600 gallons along the greenway trail west of NC Hwy 22.  The untreated wastewater was discharged into Mill Creek.

The Town Utilities Division was notified of the event at approximately 1:30 p.m.  All efforts to mitigate wastewater release were taken.  Repairs were completed and system returned to service at approximately 3:30 p.m., and cleanup/sanitizing efforts were conducted.

The town had another discharge last week on Dec. 13 of an estimated 2,600 gallons at the intersection of W. Connecticut Ave. and N. Mechanic St. The untreated wastewater was discharged into McDeeds Creek.
