A van caught fire near a neighborhood on the outskirts of Aberdeen on Tuesday night. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near Misty Creek Drive and resulted in multiple fire engines responding to get the fire under control.
According to authorities, a man pulled up to the intersection when his vehicle suddenly erupted in flames. The driver was able to exit the vehicle safely, and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
The front end of the van was severely burned and blackened, and the passenger side was mostly destroyed from the fire.
The Aberdeen Fire Department and Aberdeen Police Department responded quickly to extinguish the fire and secure the area. The van, which was mostly a shell, had to be carefully removed from the roadway.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
