Vass woman charged with insurance fraud

Goblins, ghouls and witches might be creepy, but there’s nothing scarier than an impaired driver getting behind the wheel. That’s why the Vass Police Department and other local police departments will increase patrols to keep impaired drivers off the roads during the statewide Halloween Booze It & Lose It enforcement campaign, Oct. 24-31.

“With plenty of our citizens taking to the streets for trick-or-treating and other fun fall activities this week, it’s important that we all do our part to keep everyone safe — and that means finding a sober ride home,” said Vass Police Sergeant Miller.

There were more than 80 alcohol-related crashes in Moore County during last year’s Halloween Booze It & Lose It enforcement campaign, and six people were killed or seriously injured.

Increased enforcement during specific campaign periods year-round is a key part of making North Carolina roads safer. 2021 marked the most traffic fatalities across the state since 1973.
