The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the Village of Whispering Pines a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023. This is the 15th consecutive year that the Village has achieved this prestigious award.
The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
“Receiving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 15th consecutive year is a significant accomplishment for the Village and our Finance Officer Gwen French. I commend Gwen for her role in this accomplishment and recently completing her 1st year of employment with the Village as our Finance Officer,” said Village Manager Rich Lambdin.
