What is the Downtown Aberdeen Social District?
The Downtown Aberdeen Social District is a designated area where you can purchase alcoholic beverages from participating establishments and take them “to-go” as you explore the downtown business district within the designated boundary.
“Whether you’re sipping on a local craft beer, a signature cocktail, or a refreshing soft drink, the social district allows you to experience the best of Downtown Aberdeen in a relaxed and social setting,” said the town on its website.
How does it Work?
All social district alcoholic beverages must be sold and consumed only during the designated active days and times:
THURSDAY – SATURDAY (11 a.m. – 11 p.m.)
SUNDAY (1 p.m. – 9 p.m.)
Grab Your Beverage: Head to any participating licensed permittee establishment (see list below) and purchase your alcoholic beverage “to go” in a special designated cup. Alcoholic beverages can only enter the original permittee establishment from which they were sold. Â
Take it with You: Enjoy your social district beverage while you explore the open-air spaces, participating small businesses, and other scenic spots within the designated boundary.
Enjoy Responsibly:Â Be sure to “drink responsibly and be 21,”; keep your beverage in its designated social district cup, and only enter into participating non-permittee establishments who permit social district beverages.
Keep Downtown Beautiful:Â Dispose of the social district beverage before exiting the social district or entering vehicles.Â
Identifying Participating Businesses:
Look for the social district signage, all you must do is follow the signs. Participation is not mandatory, if you don’t see a sign, please ask the business before entering.
“BEVERAGES SOLD HERE” Purchase social district beverages from licensed, participating establishments inside the social district boundary, in approved social district cups, only where signage indicates “Beverages Sold Here.” No outside alcohol is permitted.
“BEVERAGES WELCOME” Enter establishments with social district beverages only where signage indicates “Beverages Welcome.”
“PLEASE NO BEVERAGES” Do not enter establishments with social district beverages where signage indicates “Please No Beverages.”
