Annual routine water flushing to begin April 29 in Whispering Pines

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Village of Whispering Pines for its annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022. This is the 14th consecutive year that the Village has achieved this prestigious award.

“Receiving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 14th consecutive year is a significant accomplishment for the Village and our Finance Director Cindy Graham,” said Village Manager, Rich Lambdin. “I commend Cindy for her role in this accomplishment and wish her the best of luck in her new position with the North Carolina League of Municipalities, where she will be responsible for assisting and providing support to smaller municipalities with preparing their accounting practices and financial reporting.”

The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
