Woman charged with passing counterfeit money in Aberdeen

The Aberdeen Police Department announced the arrest of Christian Redfearn, 23, of Charlotte.

On Sept. 19, Aberdeen Police officers were called to a business off U.S. 1 and Magnolia Dr. about someone passing fraudulent bills. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect, later identified as Redfearn, allegedly aggressively dragging a young child toward her vehicle, an Audi Q3 SUV, while attempting to flee the scene, said the department in a press release.

After a brief encounter, Aberdeen Police officers detained Redfearn and placed her under arrest for a charge of misdemeanor child abuse. The child was evaluated and determined not to be seriously injured. Upon further investigation, Redfearn was found to be allegedly in possession of additional counterfeit bills, and it was determined she had allegedly passed counterfeit money at additional businesses in Aberdeen.

Redfearn was arrested on charges of five counts of felony possessing a counterfeit instrument, felony obtaining property by false pretenses, possession of stolen property, resisting a public officer, assault on a government official, and child abuse.

Redfearn also had an outstanding warrant out of Iredell County for driving while license revoked and speeding in a work zone.

She was taken before a Moore County magistrate and given a $83,500 secured bond.

Defendants facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
