Veronica (“Ronnie”) Ogden passed away on August 25, 2019 surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on August 23, 1947 to Bill and Dottie Gould, Ronnie spent her childhood on Greenwood Lake in New York where she was an avid skier and ice skater. After graduating from Monroe Woodbury High School, she went on to study design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Shortly after finishing college, Ronnie began her career with United Airlines as a flight attendant.
At United Airlines, Ronnie met the love of her life, pilot, Richard Ogden. She and Rick married in 1968, started a family and relocated to Wooster, Ohio. It was there that they tended a small farm, raised livestock and participated in 4-H with their son and daughter. Many wonderful times were had sledding on the property or picnicking near the pond with friends and neighbors. Ronnie and her husband retired to Pinehurst, NC in 2006. As an active member of the Pinehurst community, Ronnie was loved by a lively network of friends in her garden club, Mahjong group, bowling league and several charities. A lover of yoga and reading, Ronnie also enjoyed socializing with friends. One of her other great joys was sharing the kitchen with her daughter, Jennifer and settling down to a little something British on public television in the evening.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rick and son David, and is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Ogden of Seattle, Washington; her brothers William Gould of Portland, Oregon, Robert Gould of Providence, Rhode Island and a sister, Patricia Maxwell of New York City. Ronnie will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and her dear friends and neighbors in both Wooster and Pinehurst.
A memorial celebration and reception is planned for 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 6th at Little River Resort, Carthage, NC.
