Aberdeen Police arrest man on gun-related charges

The Aberdeen Police Department announced the arrest of Mikal Troy, 21, of Aberdeen. On Feb. 7, investigators with the Aberdeen Police Department were working selective enforcement in the area of Bradford Drive, said the police department in a press release. Investigators stopped a vehicle for multiple alleged moving violations and identified Troy as a passenger.

Troy had an outstanding warrant issued by the Southern Pines Police Department for alleged attempted breaking or entering a building and a warrant for parole violation. At the time that Troy was arrested for outstanding warrants, investigators located a loaded handgun with an extended magazine on his person along with marijuana. Troy is a known convicted felon.

Troy was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed gun, and possession of marijuana. He was taken before a Moore County magistrate and was remanded to the Moore County Detention Center under a $17,500 secured bond for his new charges, in addition to a $7,500 secured bond for his outstanding warrant, and no bond for his parole violation.

All suspects and persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
