Accident near Robbins claims woman's life

A car accident has claimed the life of a woman Monday morning.

Shortly after 9 a.m., the victim’s car wrecked under a trailer of an 18-wheeler. The accident happened a mile outside of Robbins on Highway 24/27 near the Highway 705 intersection. 

Firefighters and paramedics worked hard to extract the victim from the car. Air Care was called but was canceled after the victim passed away on the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured in the accident.

The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.

Highway 24/27 was closed for an extended period of time, and traffic was diverted through Robbins. 

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the State Highway Patrol.

Responding to the scene were Robbins Fire and Rescue, Highfalls Fire and Rescue, Westmoore Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Moore County Public Safety, NC DOT, and State Highway Patrol.
