A fire broke out in a vacant middle apartment at 135 Murray Hill Road in Southern Pines just before 10:30 Wednesday morning.
Fire Chief Mike Cameron from the Southern Pines Fire Department said the fire started on the first floor, but they were able to extinguish it before it could spread to the second floor or neighboring apartments.
No one was in the apartment at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
The Southern Pines, Aberdeen, and Pinehurst fire departments, Moore County EMS and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire.
Multiple apartments at this location were damaged by a fire in October 2024. It started as an outside fire but spread to the building, where five apartments were damaged.
