A T-bone collision just outside Carthage town limits shut down N.C. 24-27 on Saturday night. The two-vehicle crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at the highway’s intersection with Stage Road.
Emergency units were already in the area working the scene of a crash on McCrimmon Road when the page went out.
They quickly arrived on scene, where they found a Kia sedan and a Dodge truck, both heavily damaged, blocking the highway.
According to authorities, a man driving a Kia passenger car was approaching the intersection from Union Church Road when his brakes failed. He pulled into the path of a Dodge Ram pulling an enclosed trailer, hitting the truck in the passenger side.
The collision caused the truck to roll over, coming to a stop upright with both rear wheels completely ripped off of the truck. The Kia sustained heavy front-end damage.
Both drivers were transported to Moore Regional Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.Â
N.C. 24-27 was shut down for an extended period of time while crews worked the scene, cleaned up an extensive amount of debris, and safely removed the vehicles.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol was present and investigating the crash.
Responding units were the Carthage Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Carthage Police Department, and N.C. Highway Patrol.
