A single-vehicle crash in Carthage claimed the life of a 19-year-old man. The crash occurred on U.S. 15-501, just north of Doubs Chapel Road, around 7 a.m. on Monday.
Highway Patrol said the driver of a Honda Accord was traveling south on U.S. 15-501 when he crossed the center line, went off the road down an embankment, and struck several trees. It’s unclear why the driver crossed the center line.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials did not release the man’s identity.Â
Carthage Fire and Rescue and Moore County EMS were at the crash site with the Highway Patrol.
This marks the third fatal accident covered by Sandhills Sentinel in a few weeks, resulting in a total of four deaths.
