Boys & Girls Club announces new board members

The Boys & Girls of the Sandhills announced six new board members: Mary Logan, Kimberly Davis, Paul Whit Howard, Gena Smith, Mark Scott, and Pat Rudovsky. They will serve alongside 13 other board members.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Director of Organizational Development, Jim Straight, urged the group to be an inspired advocate for the organization.

The board’s responsibilities include attending meetings, adopting a club site, and ensuring the organization is fiscally responsible and compliant with legal and ethical standards.

“Our mission is to inspire, enable and educate young people from all backgrounds to realize their full potential,” said Steve Kastner, chief operating officer for the Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills. “We are so excited to welcome six new board members that will help us create more opportunities to help more kids and teens achieve great futures. Our programs are the heart of our promise for a brighter future; they engage young people in activities with adults, peers, and family members that enable them to learn powerful life skills.”

A new slate of officers was also elected: Bill Van O’Linda as chair, Vinette Gordan as vice chair, Libba Thomas as treasurer, and Kristi Snyder as secretary.

“Our board of directors provides us with the necessary guidance and support that is greatly appreciated by our kids, families, and staff,” commented Kastner.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills provides a safe place for Moore County Youth at four locations, helping young people ages 5 to 18 to reach their full potential through a program of youth development that emphasizes career and academic preparedness, healthy lifestyles, and character & leadership development.
