A crash between a Brinks armored truck and a vehicle has claimed the life of a woman on Wednesday.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. on Hwy 24-27 near Ventura Lane about 4 miles outside of Carthage.
The woman whose name has not yet been released died at the scene. The driver of the Brinks truck was transported to the hospital.
The armored truck was upside down. The exact cause of the accident is being investigated by the highway patrol.
Highway 24-27 was shut down for several hours from Kelly Plantation Road to Myrick Road.
Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire and Rescue, Highfalls Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and State Highway Patrol.
