A 46-year-old Carthage woman is facing multiple fraud charges after an investigation on Thursday.
Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said his department “received a report of fraud in the Carthage area of Moore County after several unauthorized charges were made using the victim’s debit/credit card.”
Rene Smith was arrested on charges of one count of felony identity theft, one count of felony obtaining property by false pretense, and three counts of felony computer fraud.
Smith was jailed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond pending a first court appearance in Moore County district court on Feb. 28. She is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
