Man arrested for pawning stolen jewelry

Thirty-three-year-old Anthony Patterson of Mount Gilead was arrested after allegedly pawning stolen jewelry in Aberdeen.

The investigation began between the Aberdeen Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 8 when officers with the Aberdeen Police Department met with a woman who said she had jewelry stolen from her in Montgomery County that was being pawned in Aberdeen.

“Aberdeen Officers located at least one confirmed piece of the victim’s jewelry that was pawned by Patterson in exchange for money,” said Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis in a news release.

Chavis said warrants were obtained on Patterson for felony obtaining property by false pretenses and possession of stolen property.

Moore County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Patterson on Jan. 22 after attempts were made to locate him in Aberdeen and Montgomery County. He was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond.
