The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is adding new vehicles. Approval of purchase contracts for the vehicles – two 2019 Ram 1500 SSVs and six 2020 Dodge Charger Pursuit patrol cars – was granted at the Tuesday, December 3 session of the Moore County Board of Commissioners.
The trucks and cars will be purchased from Performance Auto Group, Inc.
Ram 1500 SSVs, amongst other features, provide secure and durable storage solutions built in the side rails of the truck bed. The Dodge Charger Pursuit patrol cars are the best-selling law enforcement sedans on the market.
In other business, board members elected Frank Quis as chairman and Louis Gregory as vice chairman for the ensuing year.
Before joining the Board of Commissioners, Quis was a council member for eight years and served as mayor of Southern Pines for 10 years. Over a 35-year career, he was owner and president of Quis Machinery, Inc., which distributes industrial machinery. Quis was also on a regional community bank board for a decade.
He’s a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he majored in business administration.
Raised in Jacksonville, Fla., Gregory moved to Moore County, to be near his children, after retiring. He spent most of his career working in law enforcement, with stints as superintendent of the CSX Police Department, a member of the FBI Anti-Terrorism Task Force, and police chief of the Whispering Pines Police Department. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he’s a lifetime member of the International Chiefs of Police and the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police and belongs to the American Legion and the Sandhills Marine Corps League.
Gregory is the legislative liaison for the Board of Commissioners and a member of the Transportation Advisory Board and the Board of Health.
During the meeting, the Board of Commissioners appointed Susan Fink to the Aging Advisory Council and reappointed Sandi King to the Nursing and Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee.
A contract amendment with Simmons & Simmons regarding removal of yard waste from the C&D Landfill was also approved.
