Man arrested after stabbing in Aberdeen

Fifty-two-year-old Anthony Colonella, of Aberdeen, is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury, and communicating threats after he allegedly stabbed a man in Aberdeen on Thursday night.

Aberdeen Police Department said in a press release that officers were called to Bradford Drive and Woodgreen Drive because there was “a suspicious subject outside with a gun.”

Officers disarmed Colonella.

“Colonello was highly intoxicated and made references to an assault that previously occurred, but a victim was not located,” said the press release. “Shortly after, officers were advised an adult male was at Moore Regional Hospital with a single stab wound to his chest. Investigators responded and confirmed the subject had been assaulted by Colonello.”

The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Warrants were then obtained on Colonello for felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and misdemeanor communicating threats.

Colonello was seen at Moore Regional Hospital, where he was admitted by hospital staff for unrelated evaluation and treatment. On Friday, officers were advised that Colonello was being released. He was then arrested and taken before a Moore County magistrate, where he was given no bond.
