Firefighters from the Eagle Springs and Robbins fire departments responded to a large outside fire Thursday night that burned several acres of field off Tarry Church Road.
According to authorities on scene, crews arrived around 8 p.m. to find flames spreading across an estimated 4 to 6 acres. The property owner told responders his truck had become stuck in the field and he was unable to remove it despite attempts to do so.
Officials requested a plow from Chatham County to help contain the fire and prevent further spread. Firefighters worked to establish control lines and extinguish the flames before they could reach the stranded vehicle or a nearby barn on the property.
Together, the departments brought the fire under control without reported damage to the truck or the barn.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office also responded and assisted at the scene.
