Deputies with Moore County Sheriff’s Department recovered drugs after an attempted traffic stop.
Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a news statement that deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle in the 200 block of Vass-Carthage Road in Vass on Monday.
“After Deputies activated their emergency equipment, the vehicle fled, and Deputies pursued,” said Fields.
Norman Bray, 49, of Sneads Ferry, and Morgan Powell, 29, of Lillington, were arrested after deputies got the vehicle stopped in the 800 block of McIntosh Road in Carthage, said Fields.
Deputies located heroin, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Each suspect was charged with possession of heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bray is also facing charges of flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, expired registration plate, and no inspection. He was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond.
Powell’s secured bond was set at $14,000.
Both are due in court on Nov. 16 and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
