Dogs rescued from Eastwood house fire

A fire destroyed a mobile home in the Eastwood community in West End Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Bluebird Lane around 4:30 p.m. They arrived to heavy flames in the front of the structure, along with a grass fire in the front yard. The fire moved quickly to other parts of the home as firefighters were fighting the blaze.

Officials said no one was home at the time. Firefighters were made aware of four dogs that could be in the home. Two of the dogs were rescued out of the burning home and were treated by first responders, one was able to get out on its own, and one was still unaccounted for.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and the Red Cross has been called to help the homeowner.

Eastwood Fire Department, West End Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire Department, Seven Lakes Fire Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and Moore County EMS responded to the scene.
