Driver injured after collision in Cameron

A collision in Cameron on Saturday morning shut down one lane of N.C. 24-27. The two-vehicle crash happened near the intersection of Oakley Road around 10:30 a.m.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a Buick passenger car was traveling west towards Carthage when the female driver attempted to turn left into a driveway.

A Toyota truck following her attempted to pass in the left lane at the same time she was attempting to make her turn.

The vehicles collided, leaving the Buick blocking one lane of travel and the Toyota off the roadway near a fence.

Both vehicles sustained moderate-heavy damage with the front passenger wheel being ripped off of the truck.

The female driver of the Buick was the only occupant of the Buick and was transported to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver of the Toyota was also the only occupant and did not require transport.

One lane of N.C. 24-27 was shut down while crews worked the scene. North Carolina Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the crash.

Responding units included Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and N.C. Highway Patrol.
