The driver of a car was transported to the hospital after crashing through a power pole in Vass. The single-vehicle crash happened around 7 p.m. Saturday night on Vass-Carthage Road, just west of Oakwood Drive near the town limits.
Officers from the Vass Police Department on the scene stated that the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer, causing him to run off the opposite side of the road, crash through a power pole, and stop against a small tree in a heavy vine thicket.
The crash left the pole completely shattered with lines down on the ground.Â
Vass-Carthage Road was down to one lane while crews worked the scene, and the vehicle was removed.
Vass Police Department was investigating the crash.
This crash was just one of three that happened within minutes of each other, including one in Southern Pines, where the driver fled the scene on foot, and another crash in Eastwood, where a woman lost her life after crashing into a tree.
