Driver transported after Saturday morning crash in Aberdeen

One person was transported as the result of a crash in Aberdeen on Saturday morning. Around 9:30 a.m., first responders received a call alerting them to a collision between a Chevrolet Silverado and a Kia Forte on Magnolia Drive near Tidal Wave Auto Spa.

The drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles at the time of the crash. While the driver of the Kia was evaluated on scene and subsequently transported by Moore County EMS, the driver of the Silverado declined transport and was able to remain on scene.

According to authorities on scene, the crash occurred when the front ends of the vehicles collided near the mouth of the Tidal Wave driveway. The front axle of the Silverado was pushed in, and the entirety of the Forte suffered extensive damage from the impact, including heavy damage to the body of the vehicle and deployed air bags.

The Aberdeen Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.

Business at Tidal Wave hardly slowed down as customers squeezed their way past first responders and circumvented the wreck to get in line for the car wash.

Emergency crews worked to clear Magnolia Drive of debris and direct traffic around the crash site. Rockwell Towing arrived to haul away the Kia Forte.
