Drivers avoid injury after Candor collision

Two vehicles collided Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Tabernacle Church Road and U.S. 220 near Johnson’s Peaches in Candor. The crash was reported at 3 p.m. just over the Moore-Montgomery county line.

The collision occurred when one vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle traveling north on U.S. 220.

A Nissan sustained heavy front- and side-end damage, while the pickup truck involved received minor front-end damage.

Witnesses nearby told Sandhills Sentinel that they were able to hear the impact of the collision even at a distance.

A North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper said EMS arrived quickly, but no one required transport to the hospital.

The cause of the crash was not disclosed on scene, and the incident remains under investigation.
