A Moore County man faces multiple charges after deputies say he stole a vehicle and forced his way into an occupied home while fleeing authorities.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office said Kenneth Sheffield, 41, of Sneed Road, was arrested Sept. 2 in Eagle Springs. Investigators were in the area searching for a stolen vehicle reported Aug. 29 when they spotted Sheffield. He ran from deputies but was later identified as the suspect in the theft.
Deputies said Sheffield entered a nearby residence while evading law enforcement and fled as officers arrived. He was captured shortly afterward.
Sheffield is charged with felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony altering or removing a permanent serial number on a motor vehicle, felony breaking and entering, and misdemeanor injury to real property.
He is being held at the Moore County Detention Center on a $6,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on Sept. 25.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
