Man sentenced to 50-72 months for Eagle Springs shooting

Moore County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Montgomery County man for assault charges that stem from a shooting that occurred in the Eagle Springs area of Moore County, announced Sheriff Ronnie Fields.
 
On March 28, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a male patient at Moore Regional Hospital suffering from several gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. As a result of the investigation, a suspect was identified and arrested in the case. The victim is expected to make a full recovery from the injuries.  
 
On Thursday, detectives arrested Marquette Antonio Colquitt, 26, of, Jackson Springs, North Carolina. Colquitt was charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle or dwelling, and one count of attempted first-degree murder.

Colquitt was placed under a $1million secured bond, has an April 16 court date and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
