An early morning accident in Cameron has claimed the life of a driver.
Just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday, a log truck traveling down Highway 24-27, near the Moore and Harnett County line, overturned colliding with a Honda passenger car and a Ford pickup truck.
The entire load of logs spilled, blocking both lanes of travel.
Two patients were transported to Moore Regional for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford truck was deceased at the scene.
NC-DOT was on scene to remove the logs from the roadway, and an environmental crew was dispatched for cleanup of approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled from the log truck.
Traffic was diverted onto Harnett Road and Line Road while crews removed the vehicles and debris.
Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
This is the second fatal accident in a two week period in Moore County Sandhills Sentinel has reported. On Oct. 27, a child was killed in an accident on U.S. Highway 1, just north of Southern Pines.
