The O’Neal Boys Varsity Golf Team capped off a strong season with four golfers qualifying for the NCISAA 2A State Championship on May 12, held at Jamestown Park Golf Course in Jamestown. Competing against seven top-tier teams in the division, the Falcons delivered a commendable performance amid challenging weather conditions.
The opening round was marked by steady rain and a three-hour mid-round delay. Despite the disruption, the Falcons battled through and ended the day tied for second place, trailing the leaders by 16 strokes.
Day two brought more looming storm threats, but the weather ultimately cooperated, allowing teams to complete the 36-hole tournament. O’Neal wrapped up the championship in third place overall, finishing +35. Village Christian Academy secured the title at +7, followed by Burlington Christian Academy at +27.
Individually, Andrew Hobbs and Dylan Wolfe led the way for O’Neal, both finishing tied for 10th with total scores of 154.

“The Falcons’ resilience, skill, and sportsmanship were evident throughout the tournament, capping a successful season with a well-earned podium finish,” said the school in a media release.
