Family displaced after fire destroys home in Eagle Springs

A family of four in Eagle Springs lost their home to a fire Sunday afternoon.

The double-wide mobile home on Elmer Place reportedly caught fire around 3 p.m. Multiple departments were dispatched to fight the blaze, and one member of the fire crew told Sandhills Sentinel that he was able to see a large column of smoke from about a mile away before arriving.

The first unit on scene advised heavy flames and smoke coming from the home. Due to the residence’s location down a narrow dirt road, tankers were used to shuttle water to the scene.

According to officials, the fire appeared to have started in the front area of the house, but the exact cause remains under investigation.

While the family is safe, a dog was found deceased.

The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the family.

Randolph Electric was on the scene to disconnect power from the residence.

The Moore County fire marshal is investigating the fire.
