Grunts make hurdles

A small but fast-growing sports program must be all about grit and determination. The Grunts from Father Vincent Capodanno High School used PVC pipe to make their own hurdles as they added more events to this season’s track program.

“The students made these themselves,” said Capodanno Athletic Director Andy Attar. “The heights are in accordance with the high school competitive standards. Our boys and girls are looking forward to competing in hurdles in our upcoming meets this year. We may be able to add high jump as well this year in addition to what we started last year in Track and Field: all the standard running races, long jump, triple jump, and shotput.”

The Grunts travel to Siler City on March 22 to participate in their first season meet hosted by Jordan-Matthews High School.
