Homes by Dickerson unveils initiative combating invasive Bradford Pears in Pinehurst

Homes by Dickerson’s Pinehurst Division unveiled its latest initiative aimed at combating the spread of the invasive Bradford Pear tree. Under the leadership of Vice President Chris Steyne, the Pinehurst Division announced a partnership with The Southern Landscape Group to facilitate the removal of all Bradford Pear trees spanning a 40-acre parcel in Pinehurst. In exchange of removing the invasive Bradford Pear, native tree species will be carefully selected and sited with guidance from Kevin Hardt of The Southern Landscape Group and thoughtfully planted in their stead.

This collaborative effort not only reflects Homes by Dickerson’s commitment to environmental stewardship but also aligns seamlessly with Vice President Chris Steyne’s pledge made in August 2023. At that time, Steyne underscored the company’s dedication to serving as a proactive member of the Butterfly Highway program, a pivotal conservation initiative spanning horse country along Sheldon Road and Youngs Road. Central to this ethos is the firm belief and resolute sense of responsibility to make ecologically sound and ethical decisions regarding the removal, preservation, and replacement of trees and shrubs.

“We are excited to embark on this meaningful partnership with The Southern Landscape Group as we take decisive action to mitigate the impact of the invasive Bradford Pear tree,” remarked Chris Steyne, Vice President of Homes by Dickerson’s Pinehurst Division. “Our commitment to environmental sustainability is unwavering, and through initiatives like this, we are honored to play our part in preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity of our cherished community.”

This initiative holds strong to Homes by Dickerson’s ongoing dedication to environmental conservation and underscores its pledge to foster a thriving ecosystem within the community.
