A head-on collision in Aberdeen injured three people with one of them in serious condition Tuesday evening. The accident occurred at the intersection of Hwy 5 and Sandpit Road at 6:40 p.m.
The accident involved a Toyota Tundra pickup and a passenger vehicle. The vehicles suffered extensive front end damage.
The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger were transported to the hospital. A helicopter was called for one of the victims but due to the extended arrival time for the helicopter, the patient was transported by paramedics to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
The condition of the other two victims is unknown but not believed to be life-threatening.
Highway 5 was completely shut down for an extended period of time. Aberdeen police were on the scene and is investigating the cause of the accident.
Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Aberdeen Police Department.
