A homicide investigation is underway in Vass after a man was shot and killed Sunday night. Authorities responded to a reported gunshot victim in the 800 block of White Rock Road around 9:30 p.m.
When law enforcement and emergency crews arrived on the scene, they found a male victim lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the head. CPR was administered to the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The assailant(s) reportedly fled the scene, but no additional information was given. Sandhills Sentinel spoke with Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields as he arrived on the scene, and he confirmed a homicide investigation was underway.
Numerous law enforcement personnel were on the scene, and crime scene tape cordoned off the area.
White Rock Road was shut down in both directions.
