Protestors with Indivisible Moore County gathered on the sidewalks near FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 15, in support of “healthcare for everyone.”

The protest began at 11 a.m. at the corner of Page Road & Highway 211 and lasted for an hour as participants filled the streets with signs and shouts.

The peaceful protest was touted as a “pop-up protest to protect healthcare,” and event organizers encouraged participants to bring signs denoting individuals’ healthcare premium increases in addition to support of Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act.

“As a united grassroots movement of passionate North Carolinians in Moore County, we are committed to creating meaningful change and ensuring our voices are heard,” reads Indivisible’s mission statement. “Join us in this crucial fight for a brighter future!”

An estimated 50 citizens were participating in the protest when Sandhills Sentinel was on scene. Protestors waved, shouted, and cheered as cars honked in passing.

Indivisible Moore County urges individuals to “keep showing up and remind our neighbors what we have to preserve.”
