Beloved wife, sister, friend, surfer, ocean soul, and devoted cat mom, Paddy Lynn Morrison, of the Seven Lakes community in West End, N.C., passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 29, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born in Moore County, Paddy spent her childhood and teenage years in Southern Pines. A proud graduate of Pinecrest High School, she continued her education at Sandhills Community College, where she made history as the first woman to receive a full scholarship to the Horticultural program.
Paddy met the love of her life, Mary Ferree, and together they built a remarkable life filled with travel, laughter, and unwavering companionship for over 50 years.
For more than 25 years, Paddy devoted herself to her work with United Parcel Service, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Her love for plants and gardening was inspired by her maternal grandmother, Florence “Nana” Parker, who lived next door and shared her passion for nurturing nature. This love blossomed into a lifelong devotion, shaping the beautiful gardens of every home that Paddy and Mary created together.
The ocean was Paddy’s sanctuary—her happiest moments were spent with her toes in the sand, salt air on her skin, and riding waves at Holden Beach. Friends and family fondly recall her joyful cry of “One more wave!” as the sun dipped below the horizon. A self-taught surfer, she rode the ocean well into her 50s, finding peace, joy, and freedom in the water she loved so dearly. She also cherished trips to Mexico, embracing its vibrant culture and stunning beaches.
A devoted animal lover, Paddy leaves behind her beloved rescue cat, Harrison—one of many fortunate animals who found a loving home with Paddy and Mary over the years.
Paddy was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Betty Parker Morrison.
Paddy is survived by her beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Ferree of Seven Lakes; sister, Amy Morrison (Liz) of Aberdeen; brother, Robbie Morrison (William) of Sanford; her cousin, Joy Clayton of Southern Pines; and a circle of dear friends who will forever carry her spirit in every ocean breeze.
