A lightning strike ignited a house fire Wednesday evening on Lobelia Road, prompting a multi-agency response and extensive firefighting efforts, according to Crains Creek Fire Department.

Emergency crews were dispatched at 6:29 p.m. after a caller reported smoke filling the interior of the home following a lightning strike.

When firefighters arrived, smoke was visible coming from the eaves.

All occupants had safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

Fire crews located the fire in the ceiling and were forced to remove ceiling materials in four rooms to check for fire extension.

Responding units included Crains Creek Fire Department, Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Fort Bragg Fire and Emergency Services, Spout Springs Fire Department, and Benhaven Fire Department.
