Aberdeen Police announced an arrest in connection with the theft of more than $1,000 worth of items from Walmart.
Fifty-eight-year-old Roberto Torres, of Sanford, was apprehended on Oct. 5 in Lee County after warrants were issued for felony shoplifting, felony larceny from a merchant, and felony possession of stolen property.
“Aberdeen officers responded and began reviewing witness statements and video surveillance,” said Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis in a press release about the investigation that began on Sept. 25. “After further investigation, officers confirm the suspect, later identified as Torres, stole over $1,000 worth of merchandise from electronics, removed anti-theft devices, and exited the store with the merchandise.”
Torres’ secured bond was set at $25,000, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
