Man dies in fiery wreck after crashing into tree

A fiery crash took the life of a man in the early morning hours on Saturday. The accident occurred near Aberdeen in the vicinity of 2100 Roseland Road around 3:45 a.m.

A man was heading home from work when he came upon the accident and called 911. The car had crashed into a tree and was fully engulfed in flames. Due to the intensity of the fire, he could not tell if anyone was in the car.

After first responders arrived on the scene, crews were able to extinguish the fire and found the man’s body in the Kia Optima. The car had heavy front-end damage where it had crashed into a large tree off the left-hand side of the road.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol did confirm the car had been traveling at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred.
