Man sexually assaulted minor in woods

A local man was arrested after deputies found him parked in the woods with a minor who they say was sexually assaulted.

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest of Jeremy Fairley, 31, of Pinebluff, on charges of three counts of statutory sexual offense with a person who is 13, 14, or 15 and three counts of indecent liberties with a minor.

“On August 25th, 2020, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division checked on a suspicious vehicle in a wooded area in Pinebluff,” said Fields in a news advisory on Wednesday. “Deputies made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and found that the passenger was a minor. After further investigation, Deputies discovered that the minor had been sexually assaulted by the driver.”

Fairley was arrested the next day, and his bond was set at $50,000. He is due in court on Sept. 10 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
