Moped driver airlifted after crash in Cameron

A two-vehicle accident in Cameron sent one person to a trauma center by helicopter Wednesday. The collision occurred at the intersection of Stanton Hill Road and Lamms Grove Road around 5:30 p.m.

According to authorities on scene, a Nissan Frontier pickup traveling north on Stanton Hill Road attempted to turn left onto Lamms Grove Road crossing into the path of a Yamaha moped.

The collision left the moped with moderate damage and the male driver with multiple injuries, requiring him to be airlifted to a trauma center from a landing zone set up at the Cameron Elementary School ball field.

The pickup had moderate front-end damage, and the male driver was uninjured in the crash.

Highway Patrol was on the scene investigating the crash.

Responding to the scene were Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and NC Highway Patrol.
