Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday, authorities were called to a vehicle accident on Legion Road in Carthage. When authorities arrived on scene, they found a motorcycle underneath a pick-up truck with one patient lying on the ground.

Due to the extent of the injuries, the decision was made to call for a medevac helicopter for the motorcyclist.

The male victim was taken to a landing zone that was set up beside Casa Garcia Mexican Restaurant on 15-501 in Carthage.  He was flown to the UNC Trauma Center.

His injuries are unknown at this time. 

The accident is being investigated by the Carthage Police Department.

Responding to the scene was Carthage Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Carthage Police Department and UNC Air Care.
