The Southern Pines Chapter 851 of Woodmen of the World recently donated new equipment to the Pinebluff Fire Department. Woodmen members Barry Blasko and Richard Wentland made the presentation to the department.
Pinebluff Fire Chief Johnathan Richardson said they had older equipment that needed to be replaced, and they are grateful for the donation.
The new DeWalt 24-volt tool set provides enough equipment for the fire engines, the rescue truck, and the squad vehicle to each carry its own set of tools—something the department did not have before. With this donation, the department will see enhanced safety and efficiency during both emergencies and day-to-day activities. The tools will be widely utilized, ranging from installing smoke detectors to using Sawzalls during vehicle extrications and firefighting operations.
Woodmen of the World is a non-profit founded in 1890. It began as a way of making life insurance available to everyone. They reinvest profits back into the communities. The Southern Pines Chapter gives back to the community through quarterly community projects. They meet the first Wednesday of each month at Bob’s Pizza in Vass at 6:30 p.m.
