The Moore County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol have teamed up with Moore County Schools to launch “Operation Safe Start,” a county-wide traffic safety campaign focused on helping ensure a safe start to the new school year.
As students, parents, school staff, and motorists return to their normal school year routines, motorists can expect an increased law enforcement presence in and around school zones throughout Moore County. Deputies and troopers will focus on speeding and other unsafe driving violations that can put students, school personnel, and other motorists at risk.
The beginning of the school year brings increased traffic, school buses, additional pedestrian activity, and more student drivers on our roadways. Motorists are reminded to slow down, remain patient and alert, obey posted speed limits in school zones, and allow additional time for their morning and afternoon commutes.
“The Moore County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol are committed to working together with Moore County Schools to make “Operation Safe Start” a success and, most importantly, to help ensure a safe start to the school year for everyone traveling on the roadways of Moore County,” said the sheriff’s department in a news release.
