SP to hold town hall open house

The Town of Southern Pines invites the community to a public grand opening for the new town hall on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 4-7 p.m. This drop-in open house event will allow residents to explore the building, meet town staff, and learn more about the services provided in town hall each day.

“Our team has planned interactive activities so you can connect with employees from multiple departments, get a behind-the-scenes look at our new home, and learn more about the services offered by the Town of Southern Pines,” wrote the town on its website.

The town purchased the former First Bank Corporate Office late last year for $6.4 million for the approximately 21,000-square-foot building located at the corner of SW Broad Street and W. Massachusetts Ave.

“For too long, our Town operations have been spread across multiple older buildings, many of which require extensive—and costly—renovations to remain functional. By bringing a significant number of our staff together under one roof—in our first official Town Hall—we will improve efficiency, make it easier for residents to access services, and reduce the long-term maintenance expenses that come with operating multiple aging properties,” shared Mayor Taylor Clement in a 2025 press release.
