Anne Pleasants Marks, 92, formally of Fairmont, NC, passed away on Sunday May 31, 2020.

Anne was born in Aberdeen to the late Malcom Blue Pleasants and Elizabeth Christian Thompson. She worked as a school teacher for 31 years. She will always be remembered for her warm smile and her jovial personality. She loved playing golf though she realized she would never play professionally. Her greatest love in sports was watching her grandsons play, especially watching William win the Memorial and watching Keith play with his Pa.

A graveside service will be held at Bethesda Presbyterian Cemetery on Wednesday June 3, 2020. A memorial service will be held to honor her life at a later date at the church she so loved, First Presbyterian Church of Fairmont. The service will be filled with music, as she was a member of the choir since the age of 16, and humor, as she lived her life with a perpetual smile and an uncanny ability to keep a joke going.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William B. Marks in 2005 and grandsons George and Lawrence McGirt.

She is survived by her children; Anne McGirt and husband Curtis of Fairmont,NC, Beverly Capps and husband Bob of Nichols, SC, James Marks and friend Karen Fennel of Lake City, SC, Joe Marks and friend Angie Branch of Maxton, NC, grandchildren; William McGirt (Sarah) of Spartanburg, SC, Keith McGirt (Kari) of Raleigh, NC, Ryne Marks (Jessica) of Fairmont, NC, great-grandchildren; Kaylee McGirt, Korie Grace McGirt, Mac McGirt, and Caroline McGirt.
