Callie Elizabeth Glosson Flinchum, 85, of Carthage, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023, at her home.

Born on July 7, 1937, in Chatham County, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon Cade and Martha Harward Glosson.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed working on the farm alongside her husband and doing the bookkeeping. Mrs. Flinchum’s hospitality shone forth as she invited friends and strangers to her table, serving homegrown food and welcoming conversation.  She was a longtime member of Flint Hill Baptist Church and formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Jack Flinchum, and five brothers, Spurgeon, Bill, Harward, Franklin, and Dan Glosson.

She is survived by a son, Ricky Flinchum and wife Gloria of Carthage; three daughters, Melanie Smoak and husband Charlie of Carthage, Betsey Bailey and husband Dean of Carthage, Mary Salzwedel and husband Todd of Robbins; 11 grandchildren, Jacob Flinchum, Laura Keown, Joel Flinchum, Rebecca Smoak, Daniel Smoak, Audrey Cagle, Rachel McLeod, Paul Ring, Lauren Salzwedel, Leah Salzwedel, and Caleb Salzwedel, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. 

A funeral service will be at 11 am Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Flint Hill Baptist Church with Reverend William Hancock officiating; with burial following in the church cemetery.  The viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10 am until 11 am at the church. The family will receive friends before and after the service, as well as at the home.
