David Westman LaLonde, 83, of Pinehurst, died August 28, 2018, at FirstHealth Hospice House.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. John Forbes officiating.
Born September 12, 1934 in Clayton, NY, he was the son of Westman K. and Amelia Casselman LaLonde. He graduated from Clayton Central School and from 1954 to 1958 served in the U.S. Coast Guard, the majority of the time teaching electronics at the Coast Guard Training Station in Groton, CT. In January 1957, he married Mary Ann Kennedy, of Clayton.
After graduating from Clarkson University in 1963, he held various manufacturing management positions in New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. His career ended in 1995, at age 60, when he suffered a brain aneurysm and subsequent related surgeries. In 1999, Dave and Mary Ann moved to Pinehurst where they enjoyed the Southern lifestyle and climate, golf and travel.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11103.
He is survived by his wife; brothers: Gilbert and his wife, Sherry; Stephen and his wife, Diane; and Timothy and his wife, Mary; and by a sister Lucinda Morgan and her husband, Leonard. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters: Jeanne Marie Allen and Suellen Carpenter.
Arrangements are with Boles Funeral Home, Southern Pines. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to FirstHealth Hospice House, 150 Applecross Rd., Pinehurst, NC 28374.
