Julia Thomas Evans, age 86, of Aberdeen, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 3:00pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carthage with Pastor Mike Garner and Pastor Eugene Ussery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 2 until 3.
Julia was born in Elm Grove, Louisiana on July 26, 1937 to the late Willie Lee Thomas and Minerva Hill Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth, Laura Mae, Margie, Mildred, Frances and Loretta, brothers, Willie Lee Thomas, Jr. and Larry Thomas.
Julia known lovingly as Granny enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved to crochet, go to the beach to hunt for seashells, and spoil her grandkids. Julia was the best wife, mom, mother-in-law, granny, friend and person. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Billy “Bill” Evans, daughters, Karen Wheeler (David) of Raeford, Donna Thomason (Michael) of Cameron; sons, Steven Floyd Evans (Donna) of Aberdeen, Tommy Wayne Evans (Beth) of Vass; sister, Jeanette Morgan of Georgia; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
